About Us
Kimmie Hair Collection is a hair distribution company specializing in hair extensions and hair products and was established in 2020. I named the company Kimmie Hair Collection in honor of my late mother, Kim Collins who fought cancer most of my life. It all started when I was five years old, a new big sister, heading to kindergarten. I remember watching my mom comb her hair, and chunks of her hair falling out. I also remember seeing lots of hair on my mom’s pillow. During her first battle with cancer, I wasn't old enough to fully understand but as I grew up, I watched my mom be an advocate for those fighting cancer and survivors.
I remember my mom used to be embarrassed to go out in public with her bald head, so she would go to the beauty supply store and purchase wigs that were cute, but they still looked like wigs.
In 2010 the cancer came back. This time it was in my mothers other breast and we were all devastated. I was 14 years old at the time, my sisters were 19 and 9 years old. My mom had to go through chemotherapy and radiation all over again and THIS time I was able to witness her journey and understand a little better about what was going on.
I have always had a love and heart for makeup and hair, so every time I would see my mom struggling to look in the mirror or to get ready for church, I would encourage her by doing her makeup and styling her wigs. To see the transformation of her spirit being lifted brought joy to my life. So it became a thing for me to go to beauty supply stores, buy wigs, and come home and cut them in cute styles that she liked. We really had a ball and most importantly, it helped build up her confidence.
Although she is peacefully in heaven, it is my job to keep the tradition going and continue to be an advocate for those struggling with cancer and its effects, and pay it forward by making as many cancer fighters and survivors feel just as beautiful and bright as I did for my mother. Her name will live on forever and ever.
